William "Ben" Pece, Jr., age 84, of 298 Wildwood Drive, Cordele, died Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Crisp Regional Hospital.

Born in College Park, he was the son of the late William Benjamin Pece and Eva Elizabeth Stanfield Pece. He was a member of the 101st Airborne during World War II and later was the general manager of Atlanta Plumbers and Steam Fitters. Following his retirement, he moved to Cordele and purchased Cordele Pawn Shop. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Cordele.

Survivors include:
Wife: Paula Thompson Bush Pece of Cordele

Son: Dr. J. Michael Pece (Susan) of Houston, TX

Daughter: Dr. Pamela P. Preston (Dr. Steven) of Decatur

Step son: Paul R. Bush of Athens

Brother: Frank Pece (Latrell) of Hogansville

Grandchildren: Meredith Burleigh of Atlanta
Matthew Burleigh of Atlanta

Nephew: Don Pece (Kelly Shea) of Hogansville

Nieces: Sheila Brewer of Hogansville
Shana Brewer of Hogansville

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Bankston Pece, a son, Greg Pece and a sister, Margaret Pece Pierce.

Funeral services will be at 3 PM Friday, July 2 in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna. Interment will be in Vienna City Cemetery.

The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home.

Memorial gifts may be made to American Cancer Society, c/o Laura Woodward, 505 Old Americus Road, Vienna, GA 31092, Crisp Regional Hospital, 906 N. 5th Street, Cordele, GA 31015 or the donor's favorite charity.
